1. You have old inline water pipes, galvanized or copper

If you have galvanized piping, its time to call. Galvanized piping has a life span of about 30-40 years depending on conditions. If you still have galvanized piping in your home, it is likely time to replace it. Home builders stopped using galvanized plumbing in the 80s. To avoid inevitable surprise leaks, that could cause costly repairs, have it assessed immediately.

2. Your water is rusty colored

If your water runs brown from the faucet when you first turn it on, your pipes are corroding. If you notice brown stains on your clothes after a wash, it could be due to corroding pipes.

3. You have been fixing pinhole leaks

You have pinhole leaks in your pipes. This is a tell-tale sign that your pipes need to be replaced.

4. Your water pressure is less than optimal

The corrosion in the interior of water pipes tend to narrow the pipe reducing the flow of water. If you have low water pressure, coupled with any other signs of old plumbing, it would be wise to get your pipes evaluated.

5. It is difficult to regulate your water temperature

This is a sign that your plumbing isn’t properly regulating your water pressure. To achieve your desired temperature, your fixtures are mixing hot water and cold water. However, when another fixture is used, either hot or cold water is siphoned away from previous fixture.

6. You notice rust and corrosion on your pipes

If your pipes have visible rusting on the outside, it’s a good chance they are also rusting on the interior. Its time to call in the experts.

7. The spouse said so

If you have any of the aforementioned signs and the spouse or significant other is complaining, then it is most definitely time to call out the repiping experts.
